History

1945-1960: Story History

Shirley Jackson did a reading of her version of The Daemon Lover for Smithsonian Folkways Recordings in 1960. There is a recording of The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen, published in 1945, read by Morgan Scorpion. Bowen's short story collection The Demon Lover was an inspiration for Jackson when creating her short story collection.

Process

2017-2018: Comic Production

The first page was painted in April 2017. The second page was painted at the end of October 2017. The final page was painted March 14, 2018.

The comic was painted using pencil and Payne's Grey half pan watercolor on rough watercolor paper.
